Academic Year Experiences
We may be resurrecting a partnership with Marine Biological Labs Environmental Science Semester (also in the fall, with a March deadline for applications- please see the Chair of the Interdisciplinary Science Program for the MBL materials and program and review this folder.
The Bermuda Institute for Ocean Sciences offers a program seeks diverse students and covers all costs with deadline at the end of May. All of these programs requires students to have completed courses in biology, chemistry, and math and are open to juniors and seniors.
DOE SULI has three different terms for summer, fall, and spring and is open to all students and graduating seniors and provides travel support, and $500 weekly stipend. Some sites are in Princeton or in NY.
Arts & Visualization
Imagine Science Films offers internships in film making, communications, and pubic programming. We coordinate these internships internally via the Mohn Family Science and Social Justice Fellowship, or you can apply via the volunteer email and then apply for Mohn Science and Social Justice Fellowship funding. volunteer@imaginesciencefilms.org
Arts Therapy/ Science
The Creative Center at University Settlement and the US Military and National Endowment for the Arts both have initiatives that look at the role of arts in healing. The Creative Center offers a one week training institute for $250 and opportunities to attend two workshops in variety of areas, with applications due in December 28. NEA Healing Arts Network has grants to support such work, see this video to learn more.
Biomedical Sciences
These are appropriate for students with lab courses or appropriate Statistics, R, or data courses completed; this is just a sampling, and you can find more from databases at the”Finding” link; students create spreadsheets or an REU list using Web Guru, searching for those programs that did not require a full roster of prerequisite courses). These are programs that our IS students have successfully secured.
SFSU: This program is headed up by Carmen Domingo, a colleague and social justice advocate. The program provides a 10 week summer research experience in the biological sciences. REU students will learn about patterns and processes of molecular evolution and the role of phenotypic and environmental variation in the evolution of diversity and complexity. Targets sophomores and juniors, provides a three day camping trip, and $5500 stipend and relocation costs and housing. Ana Remis Interdisciplinary minor and Environmental Studies Major, has completed this program. DEADLINE Feb 18.
Albert Einstein Medical School Summer Research: 8 week program in biomedical research, targeting seniors, brings together 50 college students each summer for a one-of-a-kind opportunity to conduct original research in a laboratory at one of the world’s top-ranking scientific institutions. The program is designed for undergraduates with a strong background in science who are considering a research career. Housing provided in the residence complex on the Einstein campus, $3,000 stipend and up to $500 in transportation assistance (for students who live outside the New York City metropolitan area only; international travel cannot be reimbursed). Highly competitive. Lianna Schwartz Orbach, Interdisciplinary Science Major and Alumna, completed this program. DEADLINE Feb 1.
Life Science Wadsworth REU These life science based PAID ( $5750+Housing and meal allowance) REUs are especially good for students with no lab experience and target freshman, sophomores, and juniors. There are many areas, and one is stem cell research, videos on the site help you understand the research areas. The program is immersive, so don’t refrain from applying because of the location. Anthony Jimenez Hernandez completed this program in summer 2019. DEADLINE Feb 20
REU in Minority Health The University of Nebraska has several REUs and a unique program in Minority Health Disparities that includes behavioral and social sciences and background in statistics and data analysis .DEADLINE FEB1 and MARCH 1

Penn State Integration of Biological Materials:Department of Chemical Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program focused on the Integration of Biology and Materials. $5700 for 10 weeks with on campus housing in Nittany Apartments or a housing allowance . Travel: Up to $400 (for out of state students only). Many socializing, leadership and tours of facilities. (Deadline early Jan, applications open Dec 20)
University of Kansas College of Chemical Engineering “Integrating Discovery, Engineering and Art (IDEA) Incubator is an exciting program that seeks to nurture innovations in porous materials by “Integrating Discovery, Engineering and Art” (IDEA). 10-week summer experience $5K stipend, summer housing +travel conducting semi-independent research and team-based learning. Includes scientific discussions, laboratory tours, boredom-busting ‘unseminars’, social mixers, team-building activities, and a research symposium. Playful Friday workshops in a Design Studio bridge engineering and art to cultivate innovation and a contextual sense of scale. Storytelling practice, through print and digital media, will help students gain confidence and enhance their public speaking skills. Our extensive partnerships with nine companies will also help students expand their network of contacts and learn about career opportunities. Deadline Jan 25
Rutgers Intensive Summer Research Experience (RISE): Long standing cellular bioengineering program investigates biology and materials for medicine, and offers opportunities that articulate with a range of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary areas, including stem cell engineering, systems and computational biology, cell-active biomaterials, and micro/nanoscale biosystems. Close by trainable from NYC, and offers a week long Cellular Engineering Bootcamp, 10 weeks $5K+ Housing, and GRE prep, + supplemental funding for conferences. Deadline March 15
Boren Summer REU Scholarships in STEM, Public Health & Critical Language

The www.borenawards.org, is an initiative of the National Security Education Program, to provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East in the following scientific are. In exchange for funding, Boren Awards recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a longer term commitment to government service( can include government agencies such as the CDC, FDA, USDA, NASA, DOD, PeaceCorps, Congress, etc).
Students should work with Student Success and a IS faculty member to prepare their applications appropriately. Deadline may be internally earlier.
All Boren Awards-funded programs must include language study as a core element for the duration of the grant. The Boren Awards do not have a minimum proficiency requirement for most languages. Preferred Languages are listed here. Applicants are encouraged to select or design programs that will provide an immersive environment both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities in order to demonstrate their commitment to language study. Boren Scholars should seek study abroad programs that have a serious language component. Although such programs may include some coursework, unpaid internships, or volunteer opportunities conducted in English, the strongest applicants will make every effort to immerse themselves in language study. Language study should comprise the majority of overseas coursework. Beyond the classroom, language immersion may take place in university housing with local students, in homestays with local families, or through research or volunteering conducted in the local language. Students can not be citizens of the countries for which they are applying. Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad: Up to $20,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred), up to $10,000 for 12-24 weeks, up to $8,000 for 8-11 weeks (STEM majors SUMMER only; these scientific areas )
Bioethics
The Hastings Institute Emily Murray Student Fellowship A bioethics think tank focused on the social and ethical implications of informed consent, environment and conservation, biotechnology, and health. Interns work on short term project (2-4 weeks) during the school year or the summer and have access to seminars, library and scholars at the Institute – $750 stipend and living quarters. Summer intern deadline April 15, academic year projects should be submitted 4 weeks in advance

Global Bioethics Summer School while not an paid internship nor research experience, the mentoring and the student conference presentation are along the same lines. It is expensive, but students could see if they can receive college credit.

MSU Plant Genomics REU: No prior research experience excellent program with broad projects for current undergraduates. $6K deadline Feb 7th.
Ethnobotany Internships NYBotanic Garden; especially good for those who have completed Biodiversity Achieved Lab. Most are unpaid. Selection Committee meets three times per year and applicants are notified of final decisions by early December for spring internships, mid-April for summer internships, and early August for fall internships. There are also paid internships on the employment site.
PBC Internships- Chicago Botanic Gardens and their Partners. There are different programs (Genes to Ecosystems, Conservation, etc) and they usually have a strong outreach component and in the past some have an ethnobotany component . One in particular is open to students in between undergraduate and graduate academic study.
EthnoLibrary Ethnobotany Internship For this one, you may need to secure funding from the Mohn Family Science and Social Justice Fellows Program or the Unpaid Internships at Lang College.
Botany REU and BMCC- A range of different projects from bioremediation to abiotic stress, food and nutrition and wellness, to plant communication, and anti- cancer. DEADLINE March 1
Clinical Medicine Research Assistant
NYU Emergency Medicine Research Associate Intern (Academic Year and Summer)
The Research Associate (RA) Internship is an innovative volunteer program for enthusiastic and inspired college and post-baccalaureate students. Created by the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, the internship grants students an opportunity to experience and observe multiple aspects of clinical research. Interns will develop basic research skills and become an integral part of research projects and grants occurring through the Ronald O. Perelman Department. They will be taught how to collect and enter quality data, maintain databases, analyze data, participate in laboratory meetings, gain Principle Investigator mentorship and/or shadowing experiences. RA interns will also become oriented to the Institutional Review Board and other Human Subjects courses. Deadlines are Jan 24th for summer, June 10th for fall, & Sept 16th for spring.
Data Science
Data Science for Social Good, University of Chicago Summer Fellowship invites students from a variety of social science and natural science disciplines to work with nonprofits, local governments, or federal agencies to solve high impact problems and to inform public policy decision making. Students perform modern data analysis tasks with real data alongside the experts that collected and created it. This is a free Data Science summer opportunity, appropriate for seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students; having some computer science background is useful such as R or Python. Deadline is Jan 31.
Biomedical Big Data Science Research. Mount Sinai Medical School. The Ma’ayan Laboratory’s Summer Research Training Program in Biomedical Big Data Science is a research intensive ten-week training program for undergraduate and master’s students interested in participating in cutting edge research projects aimed at solving data-intensive biomedical problems. Summer fellows training in the Ma’ayan Laboratory conduct faculty-mentored independent research projects in the following areas: data harmonization, machine learning, cloud computing and dynamic data visualization. The PSEG Research Scholars in Environmental Justice (For NJ residents) PAID Internship Program is a 10-week program at Stevens Institute brings together students from all disciplines to engage in meaningful research beginning in their sophomore year, working closely with faculty mentors on interdisciplinary projects with a focus on sustainability and environmental justice. Scholars will perform research with faculty members on projects in: Environmental and energy sustainability (Planet); Social and Community (People): and Business and Economic (Prosperity): Deadline March 31, 2025
Climate Internship and Land Management- Chicago Botanic Gardens. Paid, but must find your own housing. Internships are located in the western US, where the majority of public land occurs. Federal partners include the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, US Geologic Survey, US Fish and Wildlife Service and others. Non-profit partners include the the Mid-Atlantic Regional Seed Bank and the Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank.
University of Minnesota Sustainable Land and Water Resources REU This particular REU has a strong focus on indigenous connections and caters to those from under represented groups in STEM including first generation college students. The REU encourages participation by underrepresented students and students who are unsure about how they fit into the world of science to pursue STEM careers. The REU develops unique rigorous scientific research projects that are place-based, meaningful, and that are the product of an intensive collaboration with Native American communities. This REU supports students in ways that go far beyond a typical REU, and takes place at three different and geographically dispersed sites (Salish Kootenai College, Pablo, Montana; the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus; and the reservation of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, with students living and working at the University of Minnesota, Duluth). The REU encourages all students to apply, including Native Americans, students from other groups underrepresented in the sciences, men and women, nontraditional students, parents, veterans and students with disabilities. Students who are not able to come and participate at one of our sites can apply to participate remotely. DEADLINE Feb 21
Alaska Conservation Foundation Internships are with major organizations dedicated to protecting the natural resources and cultural heritage of America’s last great wilderness. This is a highly competitive program that places students with 17 different organizations and provides stipends. Organizations include Alaska Conservation Foundation (ACF), the National Wildlife Federation, and the Alaska Conservation Alliance, Alaska Community Action on Toxics, among others. Additionally, this program is open to graduating seniors. $5040 stipend for 12-week summer internship in Alaska, $1400 for roundtrip airfare from New York City to Anchorage. DEADLINE Applications open in January and due in February.
BUEE Brooklyn Urban Ecology and Environment Internship: 10-week summer research program focused on urban sustainability and resilience at Brooklyn College, appropriate for students who have completed ecology, math and lab based courses. Students are provided with a competitive stipend, housing and food allowances. On-campus housing is available through Brooklyn College. All participants also receive an unlimited metro pass, allowing travel throughout the NYC metro area. Clean Water Action Environmental Advocate Communications and Research Paid Intern will work alongside our full time professional outreach team to inform and activate the public about our national and state campaigns to protect clean water, fight climate change, expose the impacts of oil and gas production, find safe alternatives to toxic chemicals, and more. Teams will be focused on holding our elected officials accountable to help win victories for our water, health, and communities. EcoHealthAlliance is a NYCorganization that spans big data, visualizations, emerging diseases, life sciences, economics, and global studies and has jobs and internships. The internships can be found under ” Careers” but you should work with an IS faculty member to craft your letter of inquiry and statement of interest.
Environmental Defense Fund: EDF offers internships and fellowships for students and recent graduates in a variety of fields. EDF offers a variety of opportunities for students and recent graduates.
Gowanus Canal Conservancy: serves as the environmental steward for the neighborhood through leading grassroots volunteer projects; educating students on environmental issues; and working with agencies, elected officials, and the community to advocate for, build, and maintain innovative green infrastructure around the Gowanus Canal. They host internships when staffing allows.
New York Department of Environmental Protection offers paid and unpaid undergraduate and graduate internships year-round in a variety of fields during the fall, spring, and summer sessions.
National Resources Defense Council: NRDC helps train the next generation of environmental advocates. NRDC hires students who possess the intelligence, skill, self-confidence, and maturity to take on enormous responsibility. Our interns play an active role on the frontlines of the environmental movement. Over the course of an internship, NRDC interns work with lawyers, scientists, or policy analysts in different program areas and amass experience that they could not have obtained anywhere else.

Tishman Environmental Scholars Summer Merit Scholars Program . Students majoring in Environmental Studies or Interdisciplinary Science are selected annually to participate in this New School customized program. Quantitative Sciences Undergraduate Research Experience (QSURE) Program of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. QSURE is an NCI-funded (R25 CA214255) 10-week summer internship program designed for exceptional undergraduate students with an aptitude in quantitative sciences and an interest in cancer and population health. Students will participate in an individual research program and receive exposure to methods in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health outcomes research. Modest stipend provided. Genetic Alliance: Outreach, technology, data, and public health (Biotrust) internships $20/day stipend in DC. Genetic Counseling Resources and Internship will provide an overview of this increasing need in society; this site is a resource for those interested in exploring this profession, this article explains the birth of the Genetic Counselor as a profession and Sarah Lawrence College’s role in that evolution; a seminar based environment is the oldest genetic counseling graduate program in the nation and hosts a summer Genetic Counseling Info Session/ $25 fee. Designed to promote understanding of the Genetic Counseling Profession, the internship is excellent preparation for graduate education in genetic counseling. MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Genetics Counseling Internship: UNPAID, but Mohn Science and MOHN FAMILY SCIENCE and SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOW SITE can support if accepted . The Clinical Cancer Genetics (CCG) program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the largest genetic counseling programs among the National Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The program’s mission is to provide research-driven genetic risk assessment, genetic testing, risk management. 4-6 week program for juniors and senior undergraduate. Interns will be paired with a genetic counselor, who they will assist in clinical and research activities as assigned. This part of the internship will be individualized per the schedule/patient load, research interest and plans of the supervising genetic counselor. Interns will receive constructive feedback which will help to become better candidates when applying to genetic counseling graduate school programs. April 1 deadline

Mathematics (targeting women & underrepresented populations)
Summer Undergraduate Applied Mathematics Institute at Carnegie Mellon (SUAMI) is an eight-week summer program for undergraduate students which targets minority and female students. The goals of the SUAMI are twofold: (1) to expose students to the nature, culture, and rigors of advanced work and research in the area of applied mathematics; there will be an option to conduct research in pure mathematics; (2) to give the students a taste of the graduate school experience to help them make a more informed decision on whether they should attend graduate school. Dates of the program: May 30 through July 25, 2017. Application Deadline is March 1st.
Policy
Atlantic Council Global Energy Policy Summer Professional- Paid Intern. Promotes energy security by working alongside government, industry, civil society, and public stakeholders to devise pragmatic solutions to the geopolitical, sustainability, and economic challenges of the changing global energy landscape. Interns provide important research and logistical support to the Center. They are also encouraged to participate in and attend events hosted by other programs at the Atlantic Council.
Chicago Council on Global Affairs internships in food, agriculture, development, communication, urban planning
New York City Internships: Each government agency in NYC handles their own internships and accepts cover letters and resumes. Undergraduate interns must either be currently enrolled in a college or university, or must have graduated in the winter or spring semester of the program year. Graduate interns must be currently enrolled, or accepted in, a graduate program. Unless specified, the internship is open to both undergraduate and graduate applicants.
NY State Government Internships: The New New York Leaders: Student Intern Program provides a centralized location to access all New York State government internships. Each intern works in a particular area within a New York State executive branch agency or department. Applications are accepted twice a way for internships spanning spring and fall, spring internships work spans Dec- March and fall work spans August through November. Deadlines vary but for spring 2021, end Dec 18th.
Brookings Institute provides students and recent graduates with a pre-professional, meaningful, and practical work experience related to the student’s field of study or career interest. that can include global sustainable development. Interns may work with Brookings’s staff in research areas – Economic Studies, Foreign Policy, Global Economy and Development, Governance Studies, and Metropolitan Policy. Brookings also offers students the opportunity to intern in departments such as communications, human resources and central operations management.
Public Health
There are many resources (PHCareers, Salaries ) that explain what a career in public health will provide and the various concentrations with some very new such as the PhD program in Health Policy with an emphasis in Bioethics at John Hopkins U, and the combined MA and MPH in Public Health and Bioethics at Emory. Mount Sinai Global Health Disparities internship program open to undergraduate and graduate students or those who have graduated in the last 24 months and is run by Puerto Rican physician Luz Claudio a champion for increasing URM in this area (diversity is broadly defined here). Starts in June and involves 11 weeks in a host country.
Public Health Institute Internships When they are available, all PHI Internships are posted on their employment page. Detailed postings for summer internships are posted in March and intern selections are made before June. Note that most of their positions are in California (Sacramento, Oakland and Berkeley). Some positions are during the academic year.
Clinical Directors Network This organization promotes health in underserved communities and also educates and trains the healthcare workforce to be culturally competent and responsive to community needs. Interns can range from providing communications support to specific research projects ;Health Education Web and Social Media Audio/Visual Marketing and Public Relations Clinical Research Grant Writing Public Health. HRTP: NYCDOH Health Training Internships . Summer and semester positions, with summer program involving mentorship, brown bag lunches etc. Projects can be at the lab bench, epidemiology, social media awareness, etc. Please not that this link changes all the time so do a google search. MUST be a NYC resident for academic year internships, BUT NOT summer. All students are eligible to apply, including DACA students with work identification cards. The Institute for Family Health is an organization serving underserved communities focused on health disparities and offers volunteer and internships opportunities for undergraduates and is located near our campus. These types of positions are provided entirely on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on what projects are available. Priority will be given to students who can commit at least six weeks with the Institute. usually 5-15 hours per week and involve patient outreach or patient advocacy. Applications are rolling, but require 6 weeks lead time. They also offer shadowing opportunities. See their site for more information.
BronxWestchesterAHEC is an organization serving underserved communities focused on health disparities and offers
Health Careers targets primarily juniors and seniors and graduates and is 5 days a week. Program about 6 weeks and deadlines are early March.
SHIP program targets freshman and sophomores and is three days a week and requires applicants must reside in Bronx or Westchester or attend school in those areas. Programs about 6 weeks and deadlines are early March.
Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps (RRASC), offers a paid ($3300) summer experience doing meaningful work at a reproductive rights or social justice organization. The organizations are located across the country with many in NYC. DEADLINE Jan 15
Reproductive Health Access Project Internships and Fellowships Offers academic year internships for undergraduates for 10-15 hours per week with a focus on abortion, miscarriage, and contraception with respect to providing information on clinical tools and advocacy through newsletters, blogs, and programs for clinical workers.
Internships are found on the Get Involved page and support current undergraduates /$3500 stipend + travel and costs for the annual April Civil Liberties and Public Policy conference
Fellowships are primarily for those holding an advanced graduate degree.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Internships The Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) supports internship opportunities for qualified undergraduate juniors and seniors and RECENT graduates (targeting Under represented minorities including Asian Americans, economically disadvantaged, living with Disabilities, and LGBQT) to gain meaningful experiences in public health settings. Whether you are looking for a summer internship or a year-long fellowship, they offer multiple programs at multiple locations providing valuable exposure to a wide range of public health opportunities and infectious disease lab research.
The Columbia University SPHSP and the Future Public Health Leaders Program at Michigan are part of this network. These are highly competitive programs but only require a 2.7 GPA, you may need to apply more than once. They offer $3000- $3500 for 10 weeks. DEADLINE JAN 31.
The CDC also offers internships with other institutions that have additional funding that does not restrict funding to citizens (DACA students are welcomed). One such program is the UCLA Public Health Scholars Program. They have no GPA limit, accept juniors, seniors and recent graduates ( with no admission to grad school yet) and provide travel, housing, and a $3000 stipend for a 8 week experience. DEADLINE JAN 31.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Collegiate Leaders in Environmental Health:This is a paid 9-week summer environmental internship ( non-laboratory) for juniors and seniors who are passionate about the environment, interested in human health, and curious about how they are linked; there are two different programs- review to determine best fit. National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences The Summer Internship Program at the NIEHS is part of the National Institutes of Health Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research (NIH SIP) . The NIEHS is located inResearch Triangle Park, North Carolina. This is appropriate for students with prior research experience in a scientific lab ( the Microbiome course, or another summer REU). NYU Emergency Medicine Research Associate Intern (Academic Year and Summer) The Research Associate (RA) Internship is an innovative volunteer program for enthusiastic and inspired college and post-baccalaureate students. Created by the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine, the internship grants students an opportunity to experience and observe multiple aspects of clinical research. Interns will develop basic research skills and become an integral part of research projects and grants occurring through the Ronald O. Perelman. They will be taught how to collect and enter quality data, maintain databases, analyze data, participate in laboratory meetings, gain Principle Investigator mentorship and/or shadowing experiences. RA interns will also become oriented to the Institutional Review Board and other Human Subjects courses. Deadlines are Jan 24th for Summer ;June 10th for Fall; Sept 16 for Spring.

RISE Research in Interdisciplinary STEM Education is a 9-week residential summer research experience at Washington State University for undergraduate students in biology, chemistry, education, microbiology, mathematics, or physics. Participants will join interdisciplinary teams mentored by science, math, and education faculty to investigate STEM learning across formal and informal environments with a particular focus on understanding issues related to inclusivity and diversity in STEM. Chemistry Education University of Nebraska Alena Moon’s Lab, has a project called “Using the photoelectric effect to explore students’ conceptions of light” to understand how chemistry students understand light and its interaction with matter, the REU student will conduct and analyze qualitative interviews with students about the photoelectric effect.
MEEP is a Summer Museum Education and Employment Program that provides one month of training and then 6 weeks or work at 20 hours a week at the American Museum of Natural History ( 10 weeks total).

Flora Pennsylvania Intern (Volunteer, so you can apply to the Mohn Family Science and Social Justice Fellowship for funding to support) . Time is split between the Botany Departments of the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania and the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Work experience in all aspects of managing collections in a major herbarium and participation in a research project on some aspect of the flora of Pennsylvania. Duties include curation of botanical collections at The Academy of Natural Sciences, and participation in the Mid-Atlantic Megalopolis digitization project at the Morris Arboretum
Thinking Caps Tutoring A tutoring company providing individualized subject tutoring, test prep, and academic support services in biology, chemistry, and physics for middle school, high school and some college students. Some of their students have learning differences and so they honor each individual’s learning style and personality by making smart matches with their tutor. Must be available twice during the week ( 4-10 hours a week) to work in the students home or school. Current students and graduates with a minimum GPA 3.3; and will work with exceptions if provided with requisite explanation. Copies of transcripts and standardized test scores are requested. We are looking for tutors who can start ASAP and prefer applicants that can commit to a full academic year. You will be provided training in our study skills foundation, which aims to boost students’ executive functioning skills. You will track students’ progress and write monthly progress reports. As a tutor you will be continually supported by the Academic Director and given access to our rich resource library of materials. If hired, you will be given students to tutor, choose your schedule and decide how many students you see based on your availability. Future Park Leaders of Emerging Change (FPL) is sponsored and managed by the National Park Services (NPS) and the University of Washington College of the Environment. Formerly known as the George Melendez Wright Initiative for Young Leaders in Climate Change, the 2018 FPL program introduces a broader focus to include resource management issues for which multiple global drivers of environmental change might be applicable. Science Writing, Science Communication & Public Policy
CAICE Summer Undergraduate Science Communication Fellowship is a pilot program in 2021 that aims to combine summer undergraduate research experiences with robust science communication in multiple forms. Participants will be paired with a faculty mentor from CAICE and the Director of Education, Outreach & Diversity and work closely with researchers from multiple universities to create engaging and accessible science communication that conveys CAICE science to diverse audiences. 8-10 weeks; $5K stipend.
