Emergency: DACA, IRMA Support

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics echoes the stance of the University and our Civic Engagement and Social Justice Office with respect to protecting the identities of all students in particular in the face of threats to DACA.  Please see the list of resources curated by our Sanctuary University Committee and CESJ office here.  The Hamilton Mixtape is inspirational and there are many practical resources for self-care, legal support, and community building. The faculty in the department support all students and our doors are always open for conversation, support, and guidance.  Many of us are immigrants and have familiarity with having a foot in two worlds, both the challenges this can present and the opportunities.

Beyond the conversations regarding the future of DACA, we are also aware that many of our students are juggling concerns for those affected by the earthquake in Mexico and  Hurricane/ Storm Irma in the Caribbean and Florida. As a department that honors the whole student, we want to reach out and ask if you are in need of any additional supports.

As a department that values diversity in representation, content, and pedagogy we stand in solidarity with the university community and most importantly our students.
