National Public Health Week April 2-9: Courses, Actions, and Events throughout April online and face to face!

This week isNational Public Health Week and we have some historical reminders, a live webinar, seminars/talks, course updates for the fall, online resources, and calls for action.

History: To date, the world has eradicated only one infectious human disease, smallpox, and one animal disease, rinderpest. After decades of work, we’re closer than ever to eradicating polio, too. Prevention keeps the rest of the communicable diseases at bay. And that requires strong public health systems, access to medical and preventive care and individual responsibility.  But as advances in communicable disease are made, our work on chronic and environmental induced illness needs more attention. Clean air, water, and land are important for healthy food and living environments. Urban environmental health continues to create challenges in the face of increased globalization and migration.  See the series of talks, courses, seminars, and online resources to make this work come alive.
