Can the knowledge population health scientists produce inform policy decisions? In local communities and state houses around the country policymakers have a deep need for information, data, and scientific knowledge. But how to get the right information to them, at the right time, isn’t always obvious.
Join IAPHS for our second Research to Action webinar, “Making Research Actionable for State and Local Policymakers,” on March 31, 2022.Our expert panel will discuss what policymakers need from scientists to inform their decision-making and how to connect and communicate with them effectively. Panelists include Rashawn Ray, Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park, Dalia Palchik, of the Board of Supervisors in Fairfax County, Virginia and M. Norman Oliver, former State Health Commissioner at the Virginia Department of Health. Serving as moderator is Anne Ekedahl (formerly De Biasi), a health policy consultant with over 30 years of work in health care, community health and health policy. This virtual session is free to all. Register here to receive a link for participation.
Following the March 31 webinar, Thursday April 7, Noon Eastern Time, Anne Ekedahl will lead a small discussion group session on the art of writing a policy brief.
