NYS Climate Action Council- Public Comment Open through May

We are at a pivotal moment for the implementation of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). After more than a year of work and advocacy, the Climate Action Council has released a draft of the plan intended to guide New York State in transitioning off fossil fuels and moving toward a just transition.

Between now and May, New Yorkers have the opportunity to weigh in on a number of climate-related issues, and it’s vital that a massive number of people do. Fossil fuel interests and corporations are actively trying to advance false solutions and weaken the proposed scoping plan, so it’s up to us—everyday New Yorkers—to speak up and help shape the future of our state.

That said, we’re excited to share our first one-click tool!

This week, we want to talk to you about the buildings sector. Statewide, New York’s buildings are older than the national average. Improvements to housing and energy affordability are instrumental to directly improving energy efficiency and the quality of life of communities living in cities, suburban and remote territories, and individual buildings.

Public comments make a difference. Please join us for a few minutes a week to drive thousands of comments to the state on these vital issues!

With power,

Avrielle Miller (she/her)
Policy Coordinator, NY Renews
