Join us on Monday March 23, at 6:30pm in Tishman Auditorium in 65 5th Avenue for a screening and panel discussion for the film Counted Out, which explores the role of mathematics in our lives.
The film’s byline states: In the 21st century, fueled by technology, data, and algorithms, math determines who has the power to shape our world. Through individual stories and explorations of mathematical topics, the film demonstrates how math affects the news we see, the power of our votes, the education we receive, and the jobs that await us.
The panel discussion will include resident mathematicians Debasmita Basu and Jennifer Wilson, and Lidia Gonzalez who will explore these ideas as well as the crucial role numeric literacy plays for us individually and as a society. RSVP
