WATER & AIR QUALITY:
COMMUNITIES USING MICROBES TO PUSH REGULATORY FRONTIERS

Elias Dueker
Assistant Professor, Biology and
Environmental Urban Studies, Bard College
Citizen scientists have discovered that in rural & urban communities, microbes in adjacent waterways are found in the air. Earlier community efforts led to the establishment of the Clean Water Act and today these communities’ concerns have expanded to air quality as current regulations do not address microbial connections between water and air.
Students are encouraged to stay after the talk and chat + share feedback on the form immediately after.
