Nov 30 Free Alondra Nelson- Critical Race and Health and STEM Investment

Accompanying the new Biden-Harris administration is an ongoing promise to usher in an era of renewed investment in STEM research and development. President Biden has appointed scientists and technologists to top positions within the administration, recommitted to the Paris Climate Agreement, and pursued budget proposals that emphasize applied research and public health. In short, the new administration has positioned itself as an advocate for STEM and has emphasized the important link between science and society.

We invite our Members to join us at the 203rd Annual Meeting of the New York Academy of Sciences. Academy President and CEO Nicholas Dirks will kick off the event with a welcome address to share some exciting updates about new Academy initiatives. Then, Dr. Alondra Nelson, the inaugural Deputy Director for Science and Society in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, will join for a conversation exploring the impact of the Biden-Harris administration’s renewed investment in STEM, including its impact on international scientific collaboration, building public trust in science, and on health equity and environmental justice initiatives.
